About

Young Oak Kim Academy is a middle school within the Los Angeles Unified School District. With a focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), students will enhance their skills and knowledge in these areas leading to greater opportunities in college and career pathways.

The school opened on September 9, 2009 with an enrollment capacity of 810 students in grades 6th through 8th. We are located on a multi-use site that includes an apartment building, retail space, and eating establishments. The school is easily accessed by subway on the Metro Purple or Red lines Wilshire/Vermont station.

Professional development is offered for teachers and workshops for parents and community members to help gain a greater understanding of our instructional strategies and goals.
