Woo Sung Han Visits YOKA

Unsung Hero (biography of Col. Young Oak Kim) author, Mr. Woo Sung Han, visited YOKA on January 15th, before departing for South Korea.  Mr. Han shared promising plans with Principal Lauer for students and families.  Our annual Quiz Bowl and field trip to the Young Oak Kim Center for Korean American Studies at UC Riverside underscores the bond we share with our Korean American brothers and sisters.

Have a safe trip, Mr. Han!

Young Oak Kim Academy prepares all middle school students to become lifelong learners and academically successful for all high-school and career and college-prep A-G courses. We stimulate interest in the humanities, science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. All teachers are highly-qualified and dedicated to providing a strong foundation in subject areas aligned with California State Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards; thus, students engage in project-based learning, hands-on activities, cooperative learning, and educational field trips. Student-centered learning classes utilize differentiated instruction and numeracy & literacy–development strategies; furthermore, we personalize individual student support through our robust Advisory program. All school stakeholders model trust, respect, responsibility, and civic duty to ensure a safe learning environment. Our committed school support staff, parent volunteers, and partnerships with community-based organizations illuminate the educational pathways to ensure students discover their passion and grow into well-rounded digital citizens.
